Background: I've been commuting for a few months on my trusty hub-geared hybrid, and I'm looking at getting something a bit quicker & lighter with a view to entering some sportive events later in the year, while keeping the hybrid for the commute.
The Ribble Sportive Carbon Road frame looks like a good base to build from, but if I go to the Ribble site and select their Bikebuilder, there are lots of build options. I'm OK with most of the choices (groupset, saddle, etc), but the one that's really got me flummoxed is the choice of wheels & tyres. My bike budget is in the region of £1000, so there's the option to spend about £50 more or less on some of the default components - but that gives me a choice of over a dozen wheelsets and about 50-odd tyres. There doesn't seem to be any rational way of making a decision about these - so I thought I'd ask you lot.
Any pointers?
Cheers,
Darren
