schwalbe marathon plus. Good tread, a bit heavier than other tyres, but i think these tyres are p******e proof. Not had these tyres so not sure what they are like to ride with.

The Schwalbe Marathon would be fine, going for the Plus is overkill (and an extra 160g). Panaracer Pasela are pants, don't bother using them...

That was a very worn Vredestein TriComp on really crap, wet Spanish roads.
The Paselas on my touring and commuting bikes are great. Probably had two punctures touring in 20 years using them. And they roll nicely and come on and off the rims easily. Can't ask for much more.
