Which side are the output terminals on a SON hub?

I am having a bike built for me and the forks have had some braze ons added to guide the wiring from the dynamo to the front lamp to suit a Shimano dyno hub.

I am deliberating whether or not to upgrade to a SON hub for cosmetic reasons

Which side of the hub do the terminals come out looking at the hub from the bike seat?

The answer will determine whether or not I ask for the wiring braze ons to be moved or stick with the Shimano dynamo.

Mmmm....

The forks have had braze ons added for a LH dynamo output allegedly for a Shimano dynamo hub which is not the answer that i was hoping for....

Looks like a SONdelux is going on the shopping list.

It will save the frame builder the faff of repositioning the braze ons.

I never thought that I'd worry about colour co-ordination when speccing a bike. Still, it will look good with the black spokes, rims, Alfine chainset and Rohloff hub and finishing kit.

Thanks for your help chaps.

I'd check first. SJS cycles suggest that the SON deluxe is RH output not ambidextrous, but that could be laziness on the part of their web writer, copying received wisdom about SON hubs.

The SonDeluxe is definitely ambidextrous.
Says so in the instructions it came with.
The SD are without screw in caps so wont undo which ever side you put it.

And here is a pic of it on my Bent with left hand config.

sorry I probably should have mentioned that both my Alfine and SonDelux are disc hubs, so only one way round it can all go for them.

Vernon my red SonDelux and red Rohloff match very nicely

Yup, the disc versions are one sided, non disc either side.
Bloody good hubs they are too.

can't really say yet, not enough miles  but I do feel well lit, actually went out with the Supernova Triple, Fenix L2D and Magicshine clone all mounted up...it's a lot of light

Do Shimano dynohubs have the same right way round issue as SON ones? If not have it done for SON.

Shimano dynahubs, at least the ones that i already have, are one directional i.e. they have arrows on them showing then rotation direction.

I have found this information about the SON hubs:

The SON 28 Classical (SON 20) must be installed so that the connections are in the right direction, so as not to turn up the lid of the hub shell. All other SON, which are clipped together from flange (28 new SON, SON XS, SON XS-M, 20 R SON, SON
deluxe
, with SON (black) steel ring), have no predetermined direction of rotation.

All hubs that have an unscrewable section in the end, between the spokes and the axle, have a preferred direction of rotation and should only be run the normal way round. To use them with the removable section (and terminals) on the left, the thread would have to be a left-hand thread. It's the same as left/right threads on pedals or bottom brackets.

The SON hubs with the round body (and the old black-centre ones) open by separating the two halves of the hub shell, and have no removable end that may unscrew.

The same logic will work on any other dynohubs (Sturmey, SRAM, the SP ones that Supernova and Exposure sell etc).
