After having my boardman stolen it has given me a new enthusiasm....I'm currently looking at getting another boardman but this time a team carbon off a friend, its a 2010 model with ritchey wheelset.

I upgraded the wheels on my comp and it made a huge difference so I'm thinking of doing the same again, however having the wheels built as opposed to off the shelf.

I'm looking at hope pro 3 hubs (28h rear, not sure on front yet) but need a decent rim. Looking at approx £50-70 a rim.

Depends on what you want to use em for ? Mavic Open Pro have been the fave / most popular over the years. Strong/light/ n fast with a quality finish. Not the best wearing rim though one of the best performing for the money. Prefer 32 spokes myself.

+ 1 for Open Pro, yes I agree they do wear quickly (as I found this weekend when cleaning the bike) but they have been on the bike three years and have covered plenty of all year round miles.

Yep I've run open pros for over a year in all weather. Still going strong. Must admit I have a 36 spoke rear and 32 spoke front.

If I was going up to £70/rim it would be DT Swiss RR465
Right now I'm running Ambrosio Excellence on my Hope Pro 3, having become a little disenchanted with the rapid wear on Open Pros. Early impressions are very positive, but they are only available in 32H & 36H
Ambrosio Excellight and IRD Cadence are worth looking at too.
