Hello,

Can anybody tell me which Raleigh bike this is?

The seller describes it as 531ST touring from the 80s.

Many thanks

I don't know to be brutally honest, but A.A.S.H.T.A, (or he may do in this case).

Have a look at Sheldon Brown HERE

At least if you determine the age it should then assist you in pinning down the actual model, than again someone far more knowledgeable than me will probably be along with the model pretty soon

Looks very nice by the way, very classy

I agree. It does look beuatiful, but it's not mine. I've seen it for sale and was trying to find which model it was.

There's nothing to stop you contacting the seller asking for the serial numbers and any other identification marks so you can try and pinpoint it. I presume you have asked the seller what model it is?
Also you can Raleigh HERE, I'm sure they'd give you an email address so you could send them a picture. They must have pictorial archives to look back on.

531ST refers to the Reynolds steel frame - the manufacturer of the tubing. ST is the touring version of their tubing which is stronger than the 531C which was found on "racing" bikes.

It's hard to tell from a photo - but it looks as though it has hardly been used. Check for signs of rust on the frame. If there are any bubbles at all then probably best to give it a miss.

With the chromed forks and stays it will have been an upper range model. Just check that it is 531 throughout and in good nick- job done.

Done a little more research and it's pointing towards a Raleigh Classic Tourer from 1984.

The seller doesn't know as he himself bought it second hand.
