I'll be looking to buy a new pump for on my road bike with some of the money I received for my Birthday/Xmas but can't decide which one! I've been looking at the following: Topeak Pocket Rocket, Topeak Race Rocket, Lezyne Road Drive Mini with Flexi Hose or the Lezyne Prressure Drive Mini? Any thoughts guys and what are the advantages of the Flexi Hoses...if any?
Thanks.

I had the race rocket and its a cracking little pump but if i was buying a mini pump now i would go for one with a hose as you put less pressure on the valve which has been known to snap if your trying to hold the pump and vavle whilst giving it the beans.
I would go for one of these if i was buying again, combi mini pump with c02 combined...

I shied away from c02 for ages and buckled in the end and its amazing how much hassle it saves but i still carry a pockey rocket as well as mines a standalone pump and i feel you always need a back up just in case you have mulitple flats .

Yup a C02 is good but i like to carry a normal pump just in case so a hybrid like the one i linked looks a good idea.

Can we clarify, do you actually want/need a mini pump or a full time pump? Many people will use a mini pump all the time, because they haven't had the joy of using a good track pump and thus just automatically present a choice of mini pumps, this may or may not be what you need?

The advantage of flexible hoses is that you do not apply a lot of mechanical force to the valve and potentially tear it out of the inner tube.

co2 is good, but you really ought to carry another pump with you anyway, incase you discharge the canister into the atmosphere for one or more reasons, thus you end up carrying more stuff than you otherwise would, I wouldn't bother personally.

Cheers guys! Rob, I've got a track/floor pump and also a CO2 inflator. I carry a Muddyfox mini pump on my bike but it was fairly cheap and a bit of a panic buy at the time! I got some Halfords vouchers over Christmas so I thought I'd upgrade my mini pump! Anyway, I've gone and purchased a Topeak Pocket rocket!!!
Thanks for all your input!

I carry a Topeak Road Morph. Excellent pump which actually will get you to a decent pressure unlike many others, plus it has a pressure gauge! If the Road Morph is too big for you liking, perhaps look at the Mini Morph.

The Topeak pocket rocket is superb, it feels solid, grips the valve really well, doesn't wallow about on it, is comfortable and confidence inspiring in your hand and most importantly it'll put 100psi+ in without you noticing the effort. No pressure gauge on it but I've never had a hand pump with a really accurate one of those anyway - bit of a gimmick IMO, A quick knock on the tyre with your knuckle will be as good a way of ensuring its firm enought to get you rolling again as most little pump gauges. You can fine tune your pressure with the track pump when you get home.
