I'm using Time Mid 57 road pedals on my Dolan at the moment. They were kicking around in my garage and work reasonably well. The cleats are small (Not as small as SPD, but alot smaller than SPD SL) but I had to cut a small amount of tread off my MTB shoes! They only cost £12 off Ebay, so problem,,

I have no trouble finding the peds when I set off, but there is that nagging feeling that road peds wont take the off road strain.

I tried Crank Brothers Candy Cs, but after riding a mile, I had huge amounts of pain in my knees and took them straight off and put the Mids back on, they felt like an old pair of shoes! Nice and comfortable.

The problem I found with the Candys was too much movement in all directions!

I'm now deciding between,

A) Keeping the Mid 57 road peds, which ain't no bother offroad.
 Shimano SPD mtb peds (XT etc) Have run these before, which were okay.
c) Time attac. Anyone have any experience of these??

I can't have loads of movement like the Candy peds as it hurts my knees like hell.

What to do??

We all use Time Atacs. Fantastic - easy to maintain, don't clog, great in and out without releasing unintentionally - clean up easily. Affordable too.

I have also heard great things from eggbeaters - never fancied them myself as there is no pedal platform, but I guess with proper carbon soled racing shoes that wouldn't matter, if the running wasn't affected...
