Got a hat, had it about 5 years now (it's badged as a Raleigh Cycle matrix)

Now it doesn't really fit that well so I'm thinking of changing it.

Any suggestions for a nice lid for sensible money?

Giro Transfer was my first thoughts?

Any other sensible ideas are welcome

One of these, perhaps, but it might be akin to an older bloke wearing a baseball cap back-to-front!

This one seems sensible (but who wants sensible?).

I've got a giro transfer and it's good value. Good quick headwidth adjuster and the straps don't get too tangled.

Is it a sensible enough idea to suggest you may want to try a few before buying to make sure that is does fit this time.

I like my Bell (Fusion Sport I think) and its Bell forerunners they are/ were all good fits and easily adjustable to ensure so. Bell seem to do a quite good cost/ weight ratio. The golden rule though try them, whats right for me might not be right for you.

I like my Specialized Chamonix, and the Air 8(?) model looks decent at around the same price. Fits can vary hugely between brands though, it's one thing I'd definitely buy from a shop, personally.

Helmets are really designed to be work only by kids mucking about. An adult out cycling has no real use for one unless you are very unsteady with a poor sense of balance? Why do you want to wear one?

My balance is fairly good, but perhaps it may come in useful for a clipless moment

Every time I've come off my m/cycle (road and track), I've binned a lid in the process with visible marks on it, so perhaps it is a warning that I don't really want the contents of my head shaken up too much !

But it's got your nickname on it already, people will know I'm borrowing it from you - I was asking for sensible answers, try and keep up ;)
