That's correct. The normal one is for moving parts and the one with copper in is an anti-sieze compound intended for things such as bottom bracket threads that you want to undo easily even if they haven't been touched for some time.

I tend to do those more often, so I can use the less tacky lithium grease and not be worried about all the lithium grease washing out before the next service. I think of the marine bearing grease as being a bit more adhesive, therefore slowing action of the bearings, and my bicycle. Enough force is applied to the BB and headset that I don't have to worry as much about them.

i think I'll pack the idrive bearings and dog bone with the marine stuff , that gets well submerged at times , copper mebob on the static and lithium every where else , just one more question , re cables , is it best to grease or oil these ?

I oil cables. My try at greasing them became thick and sticky much too quickly - I guess it might be OK if you relube them more often than I do!

Yup, that's pretty much right. The copper stuff is anti-sieze, and should be put on pedal threads, and bottom bracket threads - can't think of anything else on a bike. The normal grease is for bearings and that sort of thing. There are various debates about the best grease, and whilst there's some truth in a lot of it, I've tended to the view that any old normal grease is OK.

Some screws on a bike tend to undo rather than seize, so medium or low strength loctite is the stuff for these - mudguard bolts for instance

What is "normal grease" that should be put in bb and hub bearings etc, does it have a particular name to look out for, I already have copperslip, also to chuck on the seat tube, (ally into ally)?
For me it's Castrol general purpose grease. It has ingredients for extreme pressure protection and I'm getting consistently better bearing life out of the cheap hubs on my knockabout bike since using this.
