Hi, I'd like to buy a cycle computer which will also show me live maps etc, but also want it to 'talk' successfully to my other equipment.

At present I have a Garmin 735XT and it reads my pulse via my wrist. I use to record my rides (and runs, sorry!).
I also ride on zwift using a Tacx flow trainer - its the lowest spec smart trainer but works for me.
I would quite like to measure my cadence...

Many people seem to use the wahoo computers, Garmin obviously are top sellers too.
Without limitless funds - what would people recommend?

Thanks

Pretty much all the cycle computers will talk to all the equipment you currently have - I'm not sure if your 735 does but some of the Garmin units let you broadcast HR via ANT+ so you wouldn't need a separate HRM if it does - for cadence you'd need some form of sensor, but you can usually get them on amazon for under £20.

I quite like the Garmin head units - I find the Edge Explore to have great navigation with it's large colour screen - but others prefer the Wahoo units, might be worth getting a play with both if you know anyone who has them or even a shop with both to let you demo them.

If you only care about cadence whilst on Zwift, simply buy a cadence sensor. As above Garmin and Wahoo take the biggest market share in computers with Garmin taking the largest. Another positive for Garmin is that you are already in that ecosystem.

Thanks for answers so far.

Will the Garmin HR info be displayed on a Wahoo?

Would like power - but at my standard its really not worth the outlay!

I use a Hammerhead Karoo - they're still relatively new to the scene so don't have a huge following yet but certainly one of the more advanced computers on the market. Unfortunately they've stopped selling the current version as they're ramping up to launch the Karoo 2 before the year is out, something that may be worth holding out for if you're not in a hurry. I'm certainly excited about its arrival but being an early adopter of the original crowd sourced device and a member of their advanced software testing group I'm a little biased :okay::laugh:

+1 for wahoo.
I've used Garmin and I found mostly it works but I found the interface during address entry to be... weird. Then there was that thing where it "mostly" works but sometimes when it didn't, I found it quite frustrating.
With Wahoo, I've not had any problems so far, like NONE, AT ALL. I prefer less functions, but for all those functions to work flawlessly. I also REALLY like the physical buttons on the wahoo. It seems to be a well thought out product. Garmin seems rather, uhm, designed-by-committee. But I would buy Garmin if Wahoo wasn't around, or I'd give that Karoo a shot.

Wahoo bolt for me. I've used lezyne and garmin in the past as well. The lezyne is a good budget choice, but I found it a bit too small (I had the micro. The mega is their "normal size" model). My garmin was an edge 200, so pretty basic, but was okay. Bolt for ease of use, functionality, navigation and customer support.
