Hi,

I've been riding for little over a year now and it's got to the point where there are certain things on my bike that I want to upgrade. I currently ride a specialized Allez 2011 sport . Don't get me wrong it's a really nice bike and I still enjoy riding it, i just want a little more from my bike such as an improved groupset as the Allez only uses a Shimano Sora.

So this brings me back to my point, where would i be able to sell my bike? I've thought about eBay but wondered if there is anywhere else....

Any responses are greatly appreciated

What about the classifieds on here. They seem to be fairly successful and free. There was a rule that you had to have a few posts under your belt first. I don't know if it still applies. Then there is Gumtree. It's not an auction site, but you state your price. Ebay can be good, luck of the draw really, but set a realistic reserve and you should be OK.

I have sold on Gumtree and eBay - Gumtree good if you live in a big city where lots of people want bikes, like London, as it is free to advertise and there are no fees
Ebay has the biggest reach but also big fees - probably a good 10-12% once you have factored in Paypal, which you have to offer even if you specify cash on collection

I would try on here, post in the for sale section but also look in the wanted bit, there are always folks looking for entry level road bikes. Bikeradar also has a classifieds section

Good luck - usual rules apply - i.e. don't let someone test ride unless they leave something of equal value to the bike, like a wadge of cash!

Rather than selling the whole bike have you considered upgrading bit by bit?. The Allez frame is a quality bit of kit and well worth keeping.

My lbs sells 2nd hand bikes, in fact they have sold both my old ones.

They do charge 10% but you name your price and if he has room he marks it up.

Worked well for me, ask your LBS if they sell used
