I'm in the market to get some road shoes, I have tried some on at Decathlon but not too impressed so I will buy elsewhere when I visit the UK in November.
The obvious choice would be Wiggle but you cant try them on. I've looked on the web and all the shops that came up are miles away from Dover..
I saw on Wiggle some Northwave Evolutions, Sidi Pro 5, Lake CX 330c, and some Shimano 133s and apart from the Shimano none are local to me..
So does anyone know of any shop in the London or south area that stock any of these types of shoes..

Cheers..

I don't know of shops in that part of the UK TBH, but if you've tried some on already you should be the same size in virtually all other cycling shoes.

IME I've had road shoes and boots and MTB shoes and boots from SIDI, Shimano, Lake & Northwave and I always have to go up one size from what I wear in everyday shoes/trainers/boots etc.

Evans have a decent range of shoes, also the bigger Cyclesurgeries. I think you'll need to look on websites. With CS you can order fron the website to the store, try them on in store and return there and then, assume Evans is similar

On your bike (London Bridge) have plenty of shoes too

For shimano, I always need one size bigger than my normal shoes. I've been impressed with my Wiggle/ DHB road shoes.

The three pairs I tried in decathlon were 43 too small, 44 one was too big and the other just right but was cheap and nasty.. so it looks like a 44 but its just finding somewhere to try them on..
PS.. I wonder how much custom Wiggle must lose by not having a shop.. weird..

Probably less than they lose by being online only and thus being able to undercut LBSs

If you can not get to a LBS to try some on. You might have to buy a few from Wiggle etc then try them on at home and return those you don't like.

Getting shoes that are the right size is one thing, but finding the pair that suit you best is another and it takes more trial and error than simply finding the right size. 2 pairs may be the "right size" but one may be more comfortable than another etc.

Wiggle do offer free returns via Connect+ (or did) so you could always order and then return if no good

Vickster.
I might send them an email and ask for more info on free returns, that could work out OK..

Zakalwe.
Is that the Sigma Sports in London.. if it is I did see them on a post somewhere but could't find the post again..

You need to try them on for fit. Despite what has been said here, different makes are different sizes both in length and width. For example Shimano shoes are generally too narrow for my feet. Northwave are a lot wider. As has been said, Evans, Cyclesurgery are the big stores to try for shoes in London.

Wiggle and CRC use Collect+ for free returns, check their website for drop off locations and wether one is near you.

Sigma are just outside London proper in Kingston, Surry.

IMO, I agree with Redlight, buying shoes online you have not tried on will result in an uncomfortable compromise. When I have bought road shoes, I was surprised at the different feel of the fit between different shoes from the same manufacturer. Perhaps my feet are weird, but I find that it takes lots of shoes before I am happy.

Have a look in Sports Direct or Sports Soccer shops. I just bought a pair of road racing shoes by Muddy Fox, which were SPD/SPD-SL/LOOK compatible for just £22. The RRP on those are £99!

Great deals on all their kit online too!
