where to fit the pick up on a vdo c3

Can anybody help I have a Giant SCR with carbon forks and want to fit a vdo computer I am unsure where to sight the pick up on the forks, If i fit it on the inside the magnet won't pass trhe sensor without hitting it and if I fit the sensor on the edge of the forks it appears to be to far away from the magnet. Also should the sensor be at the top of the forks or close to the hub? HELP

My VDO sensor is fitted half way up the forks, facing forwards. I don't think it matters whether it's near the hub or further up - but the further up the wheel, the further away from the magnet it will be.
