Where's a good place to get bike bolts? I need 4 or so M5 x ~10mm for fixing on mudguards...

(Obviously I've managed dig a couple out the toolbox that are kind of the right length, but I suspect they'll rust in no time and don't accept an allen key...)

Searches online have been pretty fruitless, unless I want to pay ~2 quid each!

I get all my stainless bolts from Stagonset here - http://www.stagonset.co.uk/ . If you're only buying for parts of the bike with low stress, then they're perfect. I'm still looking for somewhere to get the higher grade stuff for stem bolts and the like.
Stagonset's service is superb by the way, lots of communication if that's what you need.
Dave.

Excellent, thanks for the suggestions guys!

I went with stagonset as it turns out I also need some fixings for the rear rack I've just been told the bike needs, and they have a great range.

(Considering this bike was free, it's costing me a fortune!)

Blimey SJS still going.I remember going down there (Bridgwater) about 1997 just after I joined t'internet revolution and bought some wheels.

Joseph,

I just so happen to have a bag of bike bolts. I might or might not have the ones you need. Pop over tomorrow, some time between 8:30pm and 10pm and we I can have a look at what I've got.

They certainly are - a little expensive, but still a haven for old fashioned bits that no-one else stocks.

Have also cornered a market in 26" wheel Rohloff hubbed bikes under the Thorn branding

Most hardware shops have them you do not have to go to a bike shop to get them.

Defo not recommended to use stainless bolts in stressed positions such as stems and headsets. OK for bottle cages and 'guards
