Where can I mount my lock?

I have a Kryptonite U lock - which I like. However I can't quite work out where to mount the bracket so I can carry it on my bike (which I'd really prefer to do as it either rattles around on the pannier rack or gets put and inevitably lost inside whatever bag I have).

The bracket was originally on the seat tube, but I can't fit the lock inside the frame triangle when I've got a bottle in the cage (which is on the down tube). I can angle it so it avoids the bottle but then my knee keeps hitting the lock while I'm pedalling - which is even more annoying!

Is it really silly to attach the lock to the forks? Or the seat stays? I've been fiddling with it for a while and can't work out the best way the fix it.

I've seen U Locks attached to seat stays so would say that's your solution.

Mine mostly gets strapped to the top of whatever bag I'm using these days as that way the bag stops it from rattling much. I did used to have a way of locking it through the side of a dog-leg rack and permanent bungees so it didn't rattle or foul the wheel, but neither the Dutchie or the Falcon have dog-legs on their racks.

Seat stays or tie it down to the pannier rack so it doesn't rattle about or as an alternative thought, have you considered a mounting arm for the bottle cage that attaches to the seatpost or bars and leaves the inner triangle free for the lock unhindered?

what part of top left don't u understand ,
Top left is fine, if your bike's so small for you that you've a foot of seatpost exposed.

Can you move the bracket from the seat tube or is that the difficulty ?

IIRC, to remove the bracket, you need to remove the lock, then take off the rubber protector from the bracket, revealing an allen screw which you undo and then remove the bracket and move to a chosen new position.

HTH. :okay:

Wouldn't recommend attaching to the forks, BTW. :headshake:
