Me again

Now that I'm into my cycling need to learn how to take it all apart so I can keep it clean and running to it's best.

Is there a book/web site that will teach me to do my own servicing etc.

Thanks
Simon

There are a number of videos on youtube, anything from taking off a cassette or freehub to truing wheels.

+1 for Sheldon and Park Tool - cover most of what I've ever needed between them.

That said, taking it apart is easy. Putting it back together is the tricky bit

If you want to learn bike maintenance but don't want to bugger up your good bike while doing so get hold of an old clunker from your local recycling place, off ebay or out of a skip and take it to bits. Then put it back together again. Repeat as often as required.

It's a great idea that you want to learn Simon, however I would say that it is essential that you get the correct specific bike tools beforehand.

Exactly what I was about to suggest. Nothing beats experience.

The guys creepy but it's a good site IMHO ;)
He's not creepy, he's Canadian. Similar, but not quite the same. And yes, if I had to suggest one site for a beginner to check out, this would be it.

And don't be discouraged if the simplest thing takes you 4 hours to get right. Next time it'll be two and a half and the tenth time you'll get it done in 8 minutes flat.
Just take your time on the first go.

I wish I experienced such dramatic improvements in the time it takes to fix things
