After you partially inflate a replacement/repaired inner tube, do you place it on the rim then try and then re-fit the tyre over it, or do you place the tube inside the tyre and then re-fit the tyre on the rim?

Ya getmeh? Didn't think so...

Personally, I re-fit one side of the tyre on the rim, then insert the tube into the tyre (valve first).

I only ever take one side of the tyre off the rim when refitting a tube little bit of inflation valve in tube under tyre all the way round refit tyre check tube is clear of tyre inflate.

Put the tube back inside the tyre, then give it a couple of pumps of air before refitting the otherside of the tyre.

In similar threads some people said they always lined up the tyre label with the valve or wheel label. It seemed a bit fussy until I had a p*ncture and couldn't find the cause.

Then I realised that it made it dead easy to realign the tyre and tube using the valve hole in the wheel and find out exactly where on the tyre the leak had occurred. A tiny thorn was the culprit.

That's what I do. One of the guys I was out with on Saturday got popped by a tiny thorn too, must've been all of three millimetres long!

I always take the tyre right off the rim, I just think it makes it easier to get a good look inside it.

Tyre and tube completely off.
Half tyre back on.
Insert tube valve first, slightly inflated.
Then other side of tyre back on.

Like all the others.. but I always leave the bit of paper/plastic over the patch, I cant see it matters but I've lifted the edge of many a patch trying to peel it off so why not?
