wheels and gears

hi folks
my ebay wheels arrived today

and when i spoke to the seller i asked if i need anything else like spacers and he said no, the wheels are complete.

so here are my questions

are the rims used without rim tape as they havent got any?
what spacers and locking ring do i need to buy for the rear gear?

first question of many im sure

You need rim tape - Velox cloth type is best.

Shouldn't need spacers for fixed. Any Fixed wheel lock ring will do - I run without a lockring.

Rim tape is only needed if there are spoke holes in the top of the rim - some rims don't have these holes and you have to use a magnet to extract and introduce the nipples via one hole for the valve.

bit confused.

if i dont use spacers the cog will just wind upto the end of the threads. to get my straight chain line i only need it to screw it on halfway

Are you fitting the wheels into a fixed wheel bike or a bike that used to have multiple gears, I am just thinking maybe the chainline problem is because you are using a bottom bracket and big ring from a double/triple ring chainset.
