my dads birthday is comming up and he wants a new pair of hoops.

so were splitting the cost and are going to buy him some. 250 quid is about our max budget.

hes after a good all rounder. he does a bit of road racing and time trailling, but they would also be used for the club runs etc.

any ideas??? ive been looking at the Easton EA90 wheels?

any other suggestions?

cheers

I just bought some EA50's for just over £200, I haven't done many miles on them but they're very nice.

EA90's were over £500, when I looked...(slx's, anyway)

Handbuilt decent hubs and rims. For that money you could be looking at Chorus/dura-ace on Open 4 rims. Not as glamorous as others but at the price hard to beat.

You used to be able to get Campag Zondas for just over the £250 mark, I suspect they're closer to £300 now. You might get lucky.
Failing that I would go for the handbuilt option too.

Nothing at the £250 mark is going to be ideal for both road racing and time trialling. Although there's no reason why you can't time trial and road race on 'any' wheels.

£250 will get you a very nice pair of handbuilt wheels - remember to get enough spokes in the rear wheel - 36 for an all rounder.

And get a decent wheel builder too!
