Wheelie confused...

hi all

Need a quick answer on this please, buying some 2nd hand wheels, 1st up mavic aksiums with lithion 2 tyres, done 400 miles, £115 posted, 2nd up shimano rs 10 's 2012, 20 kilometres on them , £95 posted.

Lithion tyres aren't much cop so no point buying wheels because of those. Isn't it Mavic wheels which are a pain if you need spokes (i.e. they are like rocking horse poo)

They are cheap, but I, a cycling friend, and many others consider them to be a very good deal for the money!

Even at their cheapest they are about £20/pair so if you can get them and two tubes chucked in with a pair of wheels that you would buy anyway, that is a good deal.

Mine don't puncture easily, roll ok, are a tolerable weight, don't wear quickly and seem to grip pretty well in the wet, so I am pleased with them.

If I could afford to spend £20+ a tyre, I probably would look at alternatives, but for £10-12 a tyre I think they are great.

What don't you like about them?

Oh, and with latex tubes in are pretty comfortable too!

@ColinJ I dont suppose you need any Lithion 2 tyres do you as I have a pair here brand new I have just dug out of my spares box, I also have a pair of Michelin Pro 4 Endurance all brand new and still in the packaging if anyone needs any.

Have a pair of these on a winter build I've yet to ride. Ended up ordering a second pair for a clubmate anyway!

I don't need any at the moment, Phil, unless they happen to be black/red?

I already have a spare Lithion in black/grey, plus another newish one which is currently on my Cannondale. I have a different tyre on the back of the 'dale (Vittoria Corsa) and it is black/red and I rather like the look of it so I am thinking of putting black/red Lithions on when the Vittoria wears out, and keeping the black/grey one as another spare for my Basso.

In case anybody else is interested ... What colour are the tyres? What size are they?
