Wheel upgrade

My road bike is currently fitted with Maddux RS 2.0 wheels, but I would like a separate wheelset to use for a turbo trainer.

I was thinking of putting the Maddux ones to use on the TT and having a set of Campagnolo Khamsin G3 as my road wheels.

Is this a worthy upgrade ?

Khamsin's are pretty basic wheels, much along the same lines as Fulcrum racing 7's. Not much of an upgrade IMO.

They ride nicely but probably no better than many stock wheels. However if you need new wheels go for it

Why do you need different wheels for a turbo trainer however?

I'd wear out the ones you have in and out while saving for a proper upgrade

Thanks for the reply. The reason for the new wheels is so I don't have to keep changing the road tyre for a trainer tyre every couple of days. I don't have a bike that I can dedicate purely to the TT, and would still like to get out on it as much as possible when the weather starts to deteriorate.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I have read/heard that road tyres wear quicker and are more noisy on a TT

They may wear slightly quicker than a turbo tyre, but not by much, and pretty much any old road tyre will do. Tyre noise is directly related to the tyre's tread pattern (or lack of it).
