Wheel builder chelmsford area for 26 stone man possibly called Stuart

My physio has now asked me twice if I know someone who can build him a set of wheels. He weighs in at a impressive 26 stone ( ex prop forward) . Asking around I am told there was a wheel buider in Chelmsford who was a brilliant wheel builder especially for tandems but people only remember his first name as Stuart and he used to work out of Chelmer Cycles. Anybody know who he may be and how he can be contacted?I will try Chelmer cycles if no one knows.

If you can't find the info. Have a chat with David Hunt at DCR. He's uber knowledgeable, gives good advice and makes some jolly good wheels that won't break the bank.

Any 36 spoke handbuilts will do on a quality rim. Like above !!!! Avoid factory wheels.

I'll have to disagree with that

Not any 36 spoke handbuilt will do he is not only 26 st but he must be a powerful 26 st rider. @HarryTheDog said he is an ex pro rugby player so I can anticipate a lot of wheel flexing issues. Hubs and rims must make a very good bracing angle to have any chance....... so no any hubs, no any rim and no any spokes will do a good job.

A very interesting case for any wheelbuilder though.

He is a big lad ( not all muscle now though). I will probably try chelmer tomorrow for him to see if they know where Stuart is.
