Wheel buckled, should I de-stress the spokes in storage?

While avoiding a van on my side of the road, I managed to change direction hard enough to take the rear tyre partially off the rim and buckle the wheel by about 10mm. The tyre lost contact with the road and then 'dug in' a bit hard. Never heard of a cyclist high-siding before, but it was close.

Unfortunately I won't be able to get it to anyone until next week...should I loosen the spokes to let the rim relax and hopefully straighten up a bit, or leave it as it is until someone can try to true it up?

If you're not doing it yourself I would just leave it and take it "as is" to the LBS. You could try it yourself, its not that difficult, just buy the right spoke tool.

I have the right tool, but no truing jig, so loosening all of the spokes a bit is no problem...but straightening the wheel this much is beyond me. I can and have straightened a little wobble, but this is a touch far for my confidence.

I'm guessing here but I suspect now that the wheel is buckled one or more spokes have loosened. If you were to locate these and tighten them the wheel would straighten somewhat. If it were me I wouldn't loosen the spokes that are still at or around their correct length/tension. But if you are in any doubt I would just leave it and let the LBS sort it. If you just loosen other spokes you may just be making more work for them. That's my feeling but I must admit I'm no wheel truing expert.

Hope you get it sorted soon.
