What's your favourite painting?

Also like Hokusai's sketches of birds - in a single line, he manages to capture the essence of the animal - a truly great artist.

However, my favourite painting is Raphael's Portait of a Young Man. It was a departure for the time - use of a vivid green colour on the costume - contrasted with the earlier schools which focussed on line at the expense of using colour to create an almost 3-D effect.

Also like his School of Athens - because of there being so much going on - and trying to work out who each character is by what he is holding or doing.
