Does anyone know what this building might have been used for, it's located on the north eastern corner of Higher Swineshaw reservoir in Stalybridge.

My guess would be a building used to house some measuring or pipework controls no abandoned looking at the door

Is there a cover/metal plate on the platform, under the tripod?
My guess is underground inspection chamber, possibly going down as far as the base of the reservoir.
With all materials being used at the time being held in the building. Building could also provide basic facilities for those working there.

Any other, similar, buildings near the reservoir?

There is a metal grate covering a hole beneath the tripod, the hole itself has been filled up with rocks.

On the path leading to the building there is what appears to be a disused narrow rail track, there are no other buildings nearby with the exception of a cylindrical building that goes out into the reservoir connected to a path by a raised walkway.

There was another building probably about a mile away into the hills but it's a bugger to get to.
