As Ian says there is not allot in them. If you want to get better tech and weight reduction you will possibly have to pay even more. Just depends what you want.

I have the R540's and got them as my first clip-less on my road bike and have served me well. One word of advice dont get the black ones as they scratch very easily. If you are getting them from Wiggle their is a 5 quid discount knocking around on this site, would also suggest looking on ebay as they were a tenner cheaper when I bought then.

I don't know if you have considered the Ultegra's - they are a bit pricey but a good product nonetheless.

I got a s/h pair off eBay for £30 just to try out and they are great.

The second link is to the newer version. If you can afford it, get the new ones. I had the older ones and the little black plate in the middle wears out quite quickly. You get one spare set with the pedals, once these wear out, you will struggle to get replacements. I made a fuss through my LBS and got one spare set. Perhaps I was heavy on them, but I found the constant twisting out of the pedal damaged the plate. The pedal / shoe become loose and squeaked all the time.

As a direct result, I changed to Keo.
