What is the main difference between a mans and womans mountain bike.
Only difference i can see is the top bar angled down more at the seat post area.
The reason i ask is i have seen a bargain virtually new mountain bike a Carrera vengeance which would do me well.

As a population female body proportions are slightly different to males.

With a female bike, you may find that the top tube is shorter, stand over height may be lower too.

But, if it fits, then it fits.

Possibly:
Ratio of height/length of frame.
Saddle shape.
Colour.
You can check height/length from geometry charts or use a tape measure.

Thought i'd add this pic.

Second thoughts....maybe i won't then? Can't get it to load?

To answer the question of what's the difference between and man's and woman's MTB. One is owned by a man and the other by a woman. Hope that helps.

Frame sizes for typical female proportions, geometry adjusted to compensate for the dimensional changes, slightly narrower bars, lower standover height, a splash of pink or baby blue. That's what the best will give you, whereas the worst will give you the latter only.

Tradition. It would never do for a lady to have to swing her legs over a high crossbar, wearing a full on Elizabethan dress and corset arrangement, you might see something you shouldn't. Hence lady's bikes have more of a step through type frame. Girls also need lower gearing, because they are girls, so the chainset and cassette have lower ratios.
