Hi, firstly hope all had a good Christmas and I wish everybody a good 2013

With the sale season now here, what is the current best deal for a decent cycling jacket, if possible a fluorescent green one. (male, size L)

I am not a mad keen cyclist, so if it is raining I don't generally use the bike, but of course have been known to get caught out, when out and about and the rain has come.

OK, a Gore-tex jacket would be the best bet, but I'm not really wanting to spend that sort of money. Nor do I want those cheapie type ones ... something mid-range would be nice.

thanks for any input

Altura Night Vision - just google for the best prices, they come up quite big so perhaps try one on or buy online and be prepared to send back if required

Wiggle have, comes in yelllow, orange, black (no green)

These are pretty warm, so a winter jacket rather than an April showers type jacket. Good for now, too warm in spring

I was in Halfords shortly before Christmas ... just wasting time really, while my wife was looking elsewhere. I saw this jacket there (well it was certainly an Altura jacket)

It looked quite classy, with a good feeling material (quite soft) ... is this the one ?

I was going to try it on, but the chap there was attending to somebody else. Before it was my turn, my wife phoned to say she was done .. so had to dash off (before I got wrong )

thanks

Mine is a 2009 or 2010 one and it definitely has a soft feel and is thicker and warmer than something I'd want to ride distances in on a spring day if say was warmer than 10 or 12 deg. If that warm, I'd be in a baselayer, thick jersey jacket type garment and a pack able waterproof for emergencies

Totally impressed with Wiggle's dhb brand. Got one of their waterproof jackets for Xmas!

I got one of these too, it was much nicer than I was expecting given the price. I haven't been able to test how waterproof it is though, I had to return it and request a smaller size, this may have been a mistake given the amount of chocolate I have eaten today xx(
