With the opening up of rail ( Anyone qualified can hire the routes for Netwrok Rail) I wonder if we could ever see this again? I suppose the nearest that ever happens is FNRTC filling the power car?

I'd imagine it would be slightly harder now as most trains are fixed formation so adding a cyclists' car wouldn't work.

Charter trains are often loco hauled though, so I suppose as an organised trip it may work.

Seen that video before - always been perturbed by the idea that any level of consideration could have concluded that hanging bicycles up by their front wheel is in any way a good thing.

Wheels were tougher (if heavier) in those days so not a problem. Oh and mudguards appeared to be compulsory <duck>
