Not sure if this sounds correct to you guys but I was told that a triban 3 with upgraded wheels would be a better choice than the triban 5. Maybe you could look into that.

Get your rocks off
The Spech is nice but the Triban 5 has a better spec for less money including carb forks and stays plus the sora groupset.
The Triban 3 has the 2300 plus carbon forks for £300 A bargain.

I have the Triban 5 and I love it.

While all of the bikes mentioned are brilliant, are you willing to go second hand?
You could get a very good bike for that amount!

Although i agree with you ,some one new to cycling might not know what to look for with regards wear/tear and damage to make a second hand bike a good buy.At least with a new build from a bike shop/retailer you have some come back if you get a lemon.

I agree with Cyberknight. There are many things which can be wrong with a used bike, new is the key.

The Spesh is probably a better put-together and designed bike, and is probably lighter. Tends to do very well in magazine comparisons with similarly priced bikes.
