Done 45 miles this morning, came in, had a milky coffee, then a shower.

A few weeks ago, I would have nearly fallen into the fridge at this point  and eaten everything I could get down, but lately I have lost my appetite.
If I don't eat much, by the afternoon, I'm nearly asleep. And grumpy.
Ok, grumpier.

Do you have a favourite post-ride snack?
Do you prepare something to have when you come in, or are you a grazer?

Would someone that is knowledgable please answer this for me as well?

I find that I am thorsty when stop, but not particularly hungry and I am sure that I have read that the 30 mins post ride are the best times to eat quicklya nd plenty?

If you can't stomach food after a ride try a protein recovery drink by high5 (this is what I used to use when I was training seriously) http://www.google.co...SPCz9AwnmKWwFkQ SIS or make your own.

Personally these days I have a bacon butty & mug of tea

Beans on toast is better than you might think.

Milk is pretty good as well. If you look at some of the protein drinks you mix up with milk, you find most of the good stuff comes from the milk in the first place.

I was always in the clear the fridge camp! I would literally walk in the house, open the fridge door and eat anything in sight.

Now I always eat while on the move, energy bars, gels etc and drink plenty (usually SIS stuff). On my return home I find im not as hungry and usually have a protien drink to aid recovery.

I would recommend getting some carbs into you. I mix up a carbohydrate and protein milk shake, usually starving when I get in.

Just finished a 20 mile and probably 2500 - 3000 ft mountain bike ride, got home to find Mrs Gti had baked some scones with lots of sultanas in. Two of those with thick butter (Président - mmmm) and a mug of tea. Now got potatoes baking in the oven, I shall eat mine with some leftover chicken curry and a pint of bitter.

Just off for a long solar-heated shower now.

That's just the thing - it used to be green light for something like a peanut butter sandwich, with a banana, but now just the smell of food for about 3 hours after makes me feel queasy.

I've had a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich since beginning the thread, and my stomach is on 'rock and roll' mode  I feel fine in every other way.

Tomorrow, I'll try just some milk and see what happens.

I can't stomach food immediately after riding either. After rides I have a drink - pint of water / squash, or a protein thingy if it's been a longer ride. I don't usually get hungry until about 2 hours or so after I come back, by which time beans on toast or tuna on toast is very welcome!

I tend to 'power' eat after a long ride if i havnt eaten well pre ride, which is most definately NOT the way to do it of course. Fridays 48 miler in hefty winds was taken on two slices of toast and a banana pre ride. Not ideal eh...but when i got back it was eat eat eat time.
I used to love a can of creamed rice, that milk based food again according to previous posts, but beans or spaghetti on toast, yoghurt...well almost anything really.

Can't eat a big meal straight after a ride, especially a hard one. I will normally eat a cold meat sandwich washed down with a pint of weak squash in the first half an hour after a ride, black tea instead of squash after a cold winter ride. I normally eat beans on toast washed down with a black coffee at the café stop. And I wont eat a full meal till several hours after I got in.
