I am relocating to dartmoor this winter and need a bit of advice on cycle lights. The main part of the journey will be commuting to and from work on unlight moorland roads or moorland when MTBing. I will probably start doing a bit of night riding as it's all on the doorstep.

I have been looking at a number of rechargable lights

Exposure range (including Joystick)
Cateye R3
Light and Motion Scala 400

You input would be greatly appreciated ;)

Hi jannerman,

there was a fairly lengthy thread recently on this subject which you might find of benefit:

;)

I'm sure there'll be someone else along soon to help with your query re the lights you mentioned.

Hi there jannerman, there have been zillions of threads on lighting, take a look around, eg in Mountain biking and also on Bike Radar. The only little bit of advice I would offer is if you are going down the road [duh] of the more powerful the better, just make sure you are not blinding an oncoming car whilst on a narrow road.

For lifestyle reasons mainly. My partner has a horse and we often go riding together at the weekend. The Horse and MTB mix can make for some fun rides although it's difficult trying to catch the horse when it's galloping up the tors..

I've just tracked down and use the exposure race maxx. Great light and the fact the rechargeable batteries are within the unit are a plus. No silly leads and no replacing AA batterries. The hope1 has been received favourably however and is reasonably priced.

Thanks for all the posts..!! I have spent most of the day reading the various threads on here.

I have opted for the Exposure Enduro Maxx2 from Evans Cycles..

Just need a new bike to go with it now..

You ordered it yet?

It might be cheaper elsewhere.....sorry if that seems to be jumping to conclusions but I would always ask if anyone knows of a good deal on here first.
