Just curious as the what sort of pumps most people use. I used to have a cheap compact pump, the first time I needed to use it the connector part broke and wouldn't make a good seal on the valve, followed by long walk home - learnt that lesson the hard way

I then bought a more expensive compact pump, I think it was made by Dunlop but found the quick connector (the type with a lever) a real pain to use and only had limited success when trying it out.

So I've ended up going the old fashioned route - full size pump, held on the frame with metal clips and using the flexible tube connectors that you can screw onto the valves.

So why dont the modern compact pumps use the flexible style screw on connectors? In my opinion they are far superior and much easier to use. What sort of pump do you use?

Compact pump on presta valves.

There is a bit of a knack to using them it's a case of keeping everything steady when 'pumping'.

I would stick with buying a pump for the home base station.. track pump type.
On the move have a robust mini pump that is specific for your valve type... Schrader or Presta
The dual purpose ones end up being naff,
Blackburn airstik, I can get up and over 100psi with it when needed to by the roadside and with 60 grams , hides itself very effectively.

Yes, I have a track pump at home, just seem to be struggling to get any success with the compact type pumps. Had some success but couldn't imagine ever getting up to 100psi - I think I was lucky to even get around 30psi

Not to sure?
Track Pump at home, full length Blackburn frame fit pump on my Ribble and Audax bike, and a useless Pocket Rocket on my CR1 Pro.

Then Blackburn "Stumpy" carbon fibre pump on my MTB.

But the best pump by far is the full length, frame fit, Zefel HPX, its an excellent pump, and please don't ask why I have the Blackburn frame fit ones.

Zefal frame pump on the road bike with presta valves. Pumps up to 100 lbs with no effort. On my hybrid (schrader valves)I have a Zefal conventional pump with a flexible connector.

At home I have a track pump, but often use a foot pump as it is quicker and I have stronger legs than arms!!

Reasonable quality compact on the move and reasonably good quality track pump in the house.

Track pumps are a good investment as they reduce the time it takes to inflate a tyre dramatically.

At home I have the JoeBlow II track pump, have been very happy with this

On the bike, same as you I ditched my mini pump due to connection issues and kitted out all bikes with full length frame pumps. But I've found these work better with schrader valves, I have presta specific connectors and presta adaptors that fit to shrader connectors. I find all 3 pumps a bit hit and miss on presta valves.

So I've just invested in a Topeak Road Morph with a gauge on it. Some people think they're too big but it's definitely smaller than the frame pumps. I've not had to use it yet but the connector is the same style as a track pump. actually the whole thing is like a scaled down track pump.

you gotta have a track pump at home even if its the tesco's £12 jobby. pocket rocket on the go which is excellent for lifes little eventualities!!

I have an £8 Tescos value track pump. that I bought last Wednesday at 4am, during my lunch hour, in my locker at work. Needed to get a bit more puff in having got about 60psi in with my compact.
Neither have gauges so ball parking.
I have to keep putting the O ring back in the Tesco Value Track Pump's Presta adapter each time I use it. Came out to another flat the following day at home time.

Like the look of those road morph pumps - might try one of those

Track pump with gauge at home.
