What to do when your BB gets flooded

...I suspect my BB is flooded if thats possible?...I had to ride through some flooded areas today and the water was well above the chainset at times, so the BB was totally submerged. It rides fine, but is there something I should do now?

Undo the screw for the cable guide. Most of the water will run out. It's not a good idea to do it indoors on carpeted floor though. Don't ask me how I know this.

If it's a sealed BB it will probably be fine anyway - if not, it might need re-greasing. I would carry on riding and just keep an eye on it.

I did this on my mine a few months ago. I never bothered doing anything about it and it's still fine ~500 miles later.

Remove seat post. Turn bike upside down.
Any drips?
If not - no problem.

If lots of water.... remove bb, forks, headset, and allow frame to dry. Hairdryer can be useful

If its the Galaxy - spray lots of WD40 inside frame as rust inhibitor, then reassemble.

If its the Bianchi.... I don't know whether WD40 is good for aluminium? Anyone?

There is no way he would take his Bianchi out even if there was the faintest hint of a cloud on the horizon !

..sad but true, sad but true.

I need to get this rourke frame built up so I dont need to ride the bianchi or the galaxy in the rain...then I'll need another so the rourke doesnt get messy....

That's a deep puddle if over BB height...also check the hubs..... paranoid yet !!!
