its saturday and I havent been out for a ride since last sunday, so to deal with this annoyance I thought I would ask a completely pointless and random question (although I may buy a bike as a result so it's not completely pointless)

I have a Trek Domane 5.2 which has taught me two things

1) I like road cycling
2) I hate BB90 and Trek

So here's the question.

I'm almost 55, weight about 15 stone, I'm 6' 3" Tall, and mostly ride with my club averaging 16mph or on longer sportives.
I live in North Wales so most rides include hills.

If I was to buy a new bike for about £3k what should I buy?

I know this is a daft question but I'm interested - what would you buy in my situation?

Seriously, figure out what kind of geometry you'd like and buy what you prefer the look of.

Check out Rose and Canyon for bang for buck. Bought a Rose myself and couldn't be happier.

I looked around and had a max budget of 3k. Bang for buck was important to me, didn't want to feel that having spent 3k on a bike I'd have components on it that I'd want to upgrade.

For my 3k I got di2 (which was a must) and a wheel set that the cheapest I could find at the time was £1k. Literally, the frame was free.

But my dream bike wont necessarily be the same as yours. I wanted a race geometry so that's what I bought. First of all, you need to figure out what geometry you prefer. No point you buying a bike that you like the look of but can't ride because your not comfortable on it.
