The husband has just agreed we can go to Paris for the last day of the Tour...hurrah! Anyone know roughly what time it finishes and thus what time I can book our flights home??

About 4pm - the timestamp on my 2006 photos have the riders going across Place de la Concorde at 15:52.

Depending on where you watch from though, I wouldn't plan on contemplating getting to the airport until at least 7pm

Barnet,
I went to Paris last year and was on the corner by the Louvre and the River Seine. The riders arrived about 3.30 pm. I had a really great day, and caught the last Eurostar back to London.

Last year after the finish we went down to see the presentations, then on to the tuilleries for a bite to eat and a wander down to the Louvre, and still managed to get our train from Gare du Nord at 8.00pm. If you try to rush off after the finish you get caught up in the crowds and Le Plod funnel you off in directions you don't want to go.

Cathryn, we are watching them on the previous day somewhere on Ventoux. I would love to do the Champs Elysees some year. Have a good one.

It's a great day.

I went the year Ullrich won (97 i think). Stood at the entry to Place de la Concorde.

Be warned though, you need to get your spot on the barrier hours before the riders arrived, which if it's hot, which it was in 97 wasn't pleasant, but worth it when the riders come past at phenomenal speeds.

I went in 2006 and we had to leave before the finish to catch our train. Still great fun though. We got there early (9 ish) with camping chairs and a coolbag full of goodies to grab a decent spot but you could turn up a bit later and still have a good space.

absolutely. We got there at 8 am armed with drinks and sandwiches, and that was about right. We sat at the front all day, watching the caravanne, and chatting with Dutch cyclists who had, by driving through the nights, followed the entire tour.
