Newbie on this forum so apologies for seeking advice so early. Just bought my son a skinny hybrid no brand fixed wheel. Lovely bike for getting him to school and work. He got a puncture within 3 days so tried to fix it. All my patches were too big and I got frustrated and went to buy a new tube. The old tube had no identification on it so I took it to my local bike shop. They sold me a 700/18. This is fine but the tyre around the valve protrudes and doesn't sit right. Is there a different tube for these new fangled deep rims? Thanks for any advice, a frustrated dad!

Deflate the tyre, push the valve up into the tyre. This will allow the bead of the tyre to sit correctly on the rim 'shoulder'.Re-inflate
For the correct tube size read the tyre size and match it but be aware that tubes cover a range of sizes eg 18-25 or 23-32 but you can push it a bit, an 18 will pretty much be OK up to a 28mm

Comfy armchair to one person & a plank to the next
Then the tube is still pushing the tyre off the rim instead of onto it. Deflate, push the valve so the tube's in the tyre and not in the rim well, check that you've not got the tube pinched between tyre and rim, and try again. Good luck!
