I am considering buying the Vitesse Sprint from amazon.com at £160.00 as en entry road bike.
It is a large frame bike and my inside leg is 29" for 5'7 tall.
Would adjusting the saddle be enough to compensate for the size of the frame?

Hello mate.
I am 5'8" and i have a 19" frame which is just right for me. and should be the same for you.

You'd be better off putting your £160 into a second hand bike IMHO. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to bikes.

I'm the first to admit there's simply nothing like the feel of getting a brand new bike, and I'm the sucker that usually has to buy them as I'm 6'5" and second hand bikes my size are like rocking horse droppings, whereas my mate who's about 5' 8" is constantly picking up amazing bargains like a Ribble 7005 for £150, or a Specialized S Works, 2005 ish alu frame and aero seatpost in mint condition, for £275!!

I'm not suggesting you have to spend ££££££££'s to make the new bike feeling last, but sometimes second hand/used is definately the better option.

Good luck what ever you decide, and ride safe when you get it

Tend to agree with the 2nd hand suggestions. I recently picked up a Secteur Elite 2010 in immaculate condition for £450. It's lovely.

I'm sure you could get a very good 2nd hand entry level bike for £250.

just had a look on the Decathlon website. Great looking bikes but no prices as they seem to have some difficulties with their site at the moment.
Will keep looking.
You would'nt think buying a bike would be so difficult would you?
After all, it is only two wheels, a chain and gears. What could be simpler?

That's true. I like an easy , uncomplicated life. To me, bikes are simple, uncomplicated machines. I was an engineer in my previous life, so I know.

right. Went into my local bike shop today to inquire about the cost of a racing bike just for exercising as I dont intend to enter any races or even my local bike club. £500 the man said, without a smile.
"no thank you " I said as 1) my wife would divorce me if I spent that sort of money on a "push bike"
2) I have no intention of spending that much on one.
So i will peruse ebay and wait for a good secondhand one to come, at a price I can afford.
In the meantime, I will have to have the front gears reset on my mountain bike as I can only use 14 out of 21 and I really need the lower gears as Wales is nowhere near flat.
