..i be eating before, during and after i cycle?

I commute 4 days a week (mon-thurs) 5 miles each way, i also play football once a week for an hour, the commute after football is the hardest with playing football the night before but what foods should i be eating to help my muscles recover?

I don't think you should need anything special for a 5 mile each way commute. Just eat normally.

Porridge is almost always my choice for breakfast.

Nothing extra for 5 miles, i cycle 10 miles each way and all i have for brekkie is porridge or some toast, maybe a cereal bar whne i get to work if i am peckish.

Have porridge every morning, what about if i do a 50 mile cycle?
porridge wth sultanas, maybe a gel or 2 /energry bar along with an energy drink should be plenty , all depends o n your fitness, speed etc etc.I would do a 70 mile club run on porridge with a coffe + cake stop halfway.

I would not be adjusting the types of food I consumed prior to a 50 mile trip, but might up the intake a little afterwards. Usually a banana, jammy piece and/or slice of fruit cake would be consumed en route.
Possibly it depends on how much effort you want to put into the 50 miles, for myself I would just be dawdling along.:smile:

Average speed is somewhere around 10-12mph, usually do 50 miles in around 4 - 4.5hrs, usually try to have atleast one or two bananas while i cycle.

Some days on the commute my legs just feel tired and i think its down to what im eating or shouldnt be eating in my case :blink:
