Great advice for the beginner as I am.. .
I have a RIDGEBACK HYBRID which I'm goin to use as my tourer to see how I get on.
At the moment I have velo saddle which I don't bound well with, I'd like a brooks b17 but with most my tours bein in England and Wales, the treatment is off putting where a pre aged one I believe you don't have to treat, my other options I lookin at are SAN MARCO ROLLS or REGALS.
What are your thought's please?

Other people's saddle choices aren't going to be much help, unfortunately.

The Rolls and Regal are quite different saddles. The Regal is hard and flat and the Rolls has more padding and is shaped. Of the two the Rolls is more likely to suit than the Regal given the use you are talking about.

Try the Brooks! The treatment as you describe it is really minimal unless you abuse your bike. Try one and see, they are either for you or not but you will always wonder. I use one on all three of my bikes and recommend them with the caveat that it might not suit you. There is always the Cambium too. Resale value is pretty good for Brooks if you decide not to persevere. The care of a decent saddle is time well spent. Gez

I stumbled across a regal when I bought a bike from Ribble in the 90's. Was the best one that I had owned and now have a regal on all 4 of my active bikes. It is a personal choice, but looks wise, it is very elegant and has a nice retro feel to it and they have lasted well.

Yeah. There's a lot nonsense told about brooks saddles. I bought one, occasionally applied dubbin to it, and it's been great.

30,000km, so it's nearly broken in.
