What Road Tyres for Mountain Bike?

I currently ride a Voodoo Bantu mountain bike for my daily 5 mile commute to work and back. It is an excellent bike but is currently fitted with 26 x 2.1 off road 'nobbly' tyes which are obviously not ideal for daily tarmac riding. I am thinking of fitting some kind of road tyre to the bike to make it more efficient to ride, preferably Schwalbe's which offer good puncture resistance. I have seen the City Jet which gets good reviews and can be picked up online for around £20 a pair. Can anyone offer any advice on these or any other tyre that would be worth fitting?

I've got standard Marathons 26x1.75 (875g) on the commuter. Not the lightest, but quite tough and big enough to absorb some of the potholes and feel stable. They've also got a 1.5 version (730g) which maybe an option for you. By Schwalbe's own scale they have a "5" rating for protection.(The Marathon Plus is a "6" and they're near bombproof but heavier still).
The 26x1.5 City Jet is 600g, usefully lighter, and cheaper, but their protection is lower than the Marathons, although I can't find a rating on the Schwalbe site, comparing to an equivalent specced tyre I would say the rating is a "3". Note that the Jets have a lower weight rating which may be a consideration for heavier loaded bikes.
I like my standard Marathons for commuting.

I fitted Continental Travel Contacts to my old MTB; very low rolling resistance, but still give some grip on loose stuff.

Schwalbe Big Apple 26x2.0" here - great tyres with Kevlar puncture protection, and with the added volume they 'look the part' on an MTB

Thanks for the above responses to my question. Can I ask why the City Jet 1.5 option is suggested as opposed to the 1.95 which they also do. What would the benefits be? Thanks.

i went for the marathon plus, while they are heavier, they are more rugged and can take a good pummeling
