... would the discerning UK clubman have ridden in 1979 - 1984?

My dad bought me a pre-loved Viscount Aerospace in the late 70's which tried to kill me and I fell out of love with cycling as a result. I'm interested in buying a retro bike of some sort and wondered what might have been my next bike, back in the day, had I stuck with it....

@GrumpyGregry i also had a Viscount from same era .

must admit i would love the Orange & Blue Holdsworth that replaced my Viscount but have struggled to find one at a reasonable cost

I've got a Clubman (69 or so) but the Corsa was better and the International was an object of lust. My Clubman seemed to have the ability to roll faster than anyone elses bike when not pedalling/having a rest in that it just seemed to clear off slightly, Good hubs/nice geometry, dunno but everyone seemed to have to chase it down.
