My daughter only weighs 8 stone (bless her) and has trouble using any pump to inflate the tubes on her racer. Any recommendations from female members on pumps that are easy for light weights to use?

Not a female member, but married, so some experience with cycles and equipping the fairer sex

The Topeak "Road Morph" family are quite good.

With a foldout leg they act like a mini foot pump. This enables you to push against the ground with the pump firmly in place with your foot.

Alternatively - cheat!

Use a CO2 cylinder to inflate. Very simple and quick, but there is always the possibility of one more p*nct*re than you have cyclinders

This one from Lezyne combines both, so you can use the Co2 and have the pump as a backup, although this does return you to the original problem.

Slightly OT

Last year I was changing a (rare) p*nct*re on the trike using a pair of tyre levers to put the MArathon Plus back in place.

A svelte young lady on a road bike stopped and asked if I needed assistance, chatting away for a few minutes, helpfully explaining that you can put the tyre back on with your hands.

So there we are , ego boosted by delightful young lady stopping and chatting about something we have in common.

Until she blew it with....

"But I suppose that is more difficult at your age and the hands stiffen up!'

I'm not much help as I weigh 1/2 stone more than the OPs daughter.

At home I have a track pump which I have to put all my body weight on to get 120psi into my tyres! For the rare punture I have a road Morph which does the job til I get to a track pump. I now have the C02 cyclinders which I've yet to use.

I suffered from an "unscheduled tyre deflation" on a ride this afternoon.
Replaced the tube and used a CO2 cylinder to inflate the 28mm tyre to 90psi in about 3 seconds, marvellous!
http://www.co2cartridges.co.uk/ cheaper than shop prices, I got 50 cylinders for £20 from them.

I weigh more than half a stone less than your daughter, and I don't have any problems getting my tyres to over 100psi with our Joe Blow track pump.

I've got a long, thin Lezyne pump for roadside emergencies (a Road Drive, maybe?) but I'm yet to use it.

I'm only a stone heavier than the young Ms J.. +1 for buying a decent track pump (Joe Blow Sport is excellent and reasonably priced). For on the road value for money I'd suggest the Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Op's Road Morph clone the Revolution Air Mini. £15 and it really does the job.
