what is it with wet weather and bad driving

went to london bridge today on my first real cycle ride since recovering from a bad back, 5 weeks unable to cycle has left itching to get back in the saddle I live on the border of Kent so London Bridge is ideal as I am able to get a train back if there is anything wrong with my back. On the way up there I had no problems with Drivers. peds or anybody else. I didnt cycle fast as I was worried about pulling my back again.
Then the heavens opened just as I was coming into London Bridge. What a difference wet weather makes to driving attitudes. I drive have done for over 10 years. I had always been taught that if you drive in the wet you should slow your speed down maybe there has been a new highway code since then. I had my gear on to make me invisible this included lights Fluro jacket. Next time I intend to invest in the lights from Oxford Street maybe I can invite Paul Daniles to come and switch them on. In one afternoon I have never been cut up so many times or pushed from the middle of the road to the curb. Or overtaken at mini roundabouts with inches to spare.

Sod this for a laugh how you guys and girls do this everyday as a commute into work I will never know

Its strange how somedays everyone seems laid back and considerate yet other days the whole atmosphere on the road seems aggressive and threatening.

Like you i wouldnt want to commute through a major city every day .

My view on wet weather driving is that motons get stressed out by the rain, heaven know why as they are still warm and dry in their steel box.
Is there a shrink in the house ?

I don't know why it is in the UK, but if you think you have problems just experience what it's like in Spain.
These idiots drive the same whatever the weather.
BUT during the dry periods (which is most of the time) a layer of oil, dust, rubber (dead animals) etc. builds on the road surface. Then it rains.
Weyhey!......... it's like watching skating on ice, because the idiots are still driving as if for dry conditions, but the roads are like skating rinks or skid-pans.

It's even harder to see out of a car when it rains, contributes to their increased "clumsiness" and stress levels.
