My wife and I were invited to a posh wedding in Lagos but couldn't go because of my busted collar bone. She was kinda looking forward to her first ever trip to Africa with excitement and trepidation.

Here's what we are missing. I notice dodo is on the menu... those Nigerians must have been breeding them in secret for the last 150 years or so!

Looks like you missed out on a treat there.

Jolof (rice) is the only dish I recognise there. Its Nigerian but Ghanaians have taken it for their own. Gizzard is a particular favourite here as well, chickens lungs I think.

I've been to a few weddings and funerals here and usually get served exactly the same food each time. This menu dares at least to be different with many continental dishes.

My colleague went and had to leave early because the music was ear-splittingly loud, so we don't feel feel as bad now as we wouldnt have been able to talk to anybody.

There was an adjoining hall with an Indian buffet for all the Indian guests. There were well over 1000 guests!

Beer drinkers would have been happy as Nigerians brew great beer. The biggest Guinness brewery in the world is in Lagos.

Glad to see there’s no chill snail......has the texture of grit, blow-your-head-off hot (and i like a good chilli) and absolutely destroys your pooper the day after
