A couple of months back, I agreed to do a charity ride at work.
56 relatively leisurely miles on a Sunday and the pace allows the whole day to do it.
In our team, I was the only one doing it. I didn't try and rope anyone else in.
I'm the resident bike geek, but since I became the bike geek, 3 of us bike commute at least part of the time.
Some is better than none is my outlook on that.
Then today, one of the girls in our team started asking me questions regarding the charity ride.
How far, what sort of roads, pace, could she do it ?
I filled in the details and left it at that. It's up to you, but I say go for it.
Ten minutes later, there she is clutching an entry form and all signed up.
Guy sitting across from me then starts asking questions as above.
Now he's in.
We figured we would start on the rest of them at that point.
To cut long story short, from it being just me this morning, they started falling like skittles.
There are now 7 of us doing it.
I'm not ashamed to say that I'm the one of the older ones in the group.
It's a strictly non competitive event, but just wait to the last 100 metres...
Cav, you ain't got a look in.
We have to raise a minimum of £200 each, so that's a minimum of £1400 for the charities involved.
I reckon that's a good day at work![Big grin  ](/styles/default/xenforo/smls/biggrin.gif)
