What’s everyone using for their off-tarmac activities ?

I have nothing but a modern iPhone and unlimited mobile data - if that helps. And would like to leave it that way / keep it simple if possible…..

Now off to search phone mounts while I await suggestions 😎

I presume you want route planning and mapping? If so I think you'll struggle to find anything free. Good mapping is worth paying for.

I use RWGPS and a combination of the different mapping modes. Often switching to walking mode will offer good trails which won't map when in cycling mode. Google maps and Street View is useful. Komoot is a good source of other people's routes and rides. I struggle to map with it.

If you have a local RSF group they are a mine of information. I have a buddy who rides with them and his gravel knowledge is legendary.

Yes on route planning. I’m now investigating Komoot in the app. Looks promising. For toad at least. Not finding / the app doesn’t seem to be coming up with much for off-road….🤨

Quadlock is the phone mount you need. Don't look at anything else.

I use Ride with GPS for most of my planning, but I do have a premium subscription because I use it so much. I've found Komoot useful for discovering routes, their route library is much more user friendly and easy to search for Gravel specific rides. I do find Komoots mapping awful though and prefer to use RWGPS for route creation.

When out on the bike I use a Garmin Edge Explore 2, I've found the mapping on the current gen Edge units to be excellent and battery life is also fantastic. Personally a lot of places I ride have little phone reception so I would be loath to rely on a phone or phone data.
