Not being able to use my bike at the mo its gathering a bit of dust, i thought about giving it a polish but dont know if furniture polish would hurt the paint. What do you guys use when your wheels aint in use

Furniture polish is perfect for giving the frame a clean. It helps keep the grime and muck off.

I just grab some of my car cleaning stuff.

Detailing spray is good for shifting light mud, and i've used an acryllic based sealer polish on all three bikes to provide a super
clean (non-stick) finish which helps keep a lot of mud/grime off.

The trouble with most silicone based car polishes/waxes is ... the first time you wash the car/bike with water over 40c the microscopic
layer of polish comes off.

Acryllic doesn't seperate from the paint until 60-70c i believe.

Couple of facts.....

Mr Sheen original contains silicone, so it sort of sticks on the frame /parts for a bit. You get the bike dirty, the crud falls off easy with soap and water (including on wet mucky days - the spray keeps the build up down). It also cuts through grease, removes oil marks, and easily cuts through brake residues. Don't tell Mr Sheen though, it's great, as they will charge a bomb for a bike specific polish ! Their scented or other ones don't work as well as the bog standard original FACT !!!.

For an extra polish, the bikes get a bit of Autoglym Super Resin once in a while ! (Not for Matt Carbon - stick to Mr Sheen).

I used to use Mr sheen and pledge years ago. Not because of the silicone, just its what I had to hand at the time. Just lucky eh.
