Hi all

I'm wondering whether or not to stuff some cloth and wrap my bars or stick with the gloves
What do you all do?

Run of the mill Deda tape, run of the mill gloves or mitts. If you're set up is right (including tyre pressures for your weight) then you shouldn't need owt else, medical conditions notwithstanding.

On one bike, when the tape needed replacing, I simply put new tape over the outside. It's a bit bulkier, so probably not a good idea for people with smaller hands, but it does give relief when riding on the tops. That said, I spend nearly all my time on the hoods where there's no padding apart from the rubbery covers so it's not that effective.

One bike (my Fuji) still has the stock tape it came with. That, combined with a pair of gloves, is perfectly comfortable. My Planet-X came with their own logo branded tape that I replaced with the same recentlyas it was very good. I do always ride with gloves (either mitts or full finger) though.

My other bikes are flat bar and still have the grips they came with.

I have doubled taped in the last, but now use Fizik gels.

A while ago, I used Specialized cork tape which is pretty thick. I tried to stick some gel pads underneath but ripped them off and binned them. They are not at all easy to apply. The cork tape worked very well by itself.

Got Cinelli cork tape at the moment, with a pair of Specialised gloves. Had Deda cork before, that was good too. But they didn't have the colour I wanted last time I ordered on wiggle. So I got the cinelli instead. Can't tell much of a difference to be honest.
