Since most people take these off new bikes what other uses can you put them to?

Send them to Lukesdad so he can hang in his fruit tree... they may scare the boids away.

One thing I never ride without, but the plastic things on the wheels come off fast - they're lethal. Replace those with 3M spoke ones now.

I have recently got a new bike with these on, why are they lethal?

When I bought my Bianchi the shop also handed me a bag full of bits which they said I'd never use, reflectors

My last road bike had none! not that I'm complaining (just don't tell Trading Standards or whoever is responsible  )

My hybrid though have the front and rear reflectors (not that it'll make much difference) and used to have wheel reflectors until they broke off, other than being unsightly I can't see a problem with them they are too small to get trap between the spokes and the forks and there too weak anyway.

They do no harm and anything that adds a little visibility is a good thing imo.

I have never had my reflectors go flat.

My reflectors have never had a blown bulb.

My reflectors have never suffered from a bad connection.

My reflectors have never switched themselves off after hitting a bump.

My reflectors have never filled up with water.

I've never had anyone try to steal my reflectors.

I have never forgotten my reflectors.

I leave mine on, although I am contemplating taking the front one off, as I don't see this being much use....I even leave the bell on...great for getting people out of my way on the two path

I agree - unless there's a compelling reason to remove (for example if a front reflector gets in the way of a bar bag) then the reflectors stay on. I even transferred some reflectors on to a set of double-sided pedals I bought the other day as I think pedal reflectors are arguably the most useful of them all.

Twist them off while crushing them with pliers then smash them into the ground with a hammer again and again and again and again again and again and again again and again and again and again again and again and again...

Phew, that's better - feel ok now!

My bike is matt black, it doesn't have a single reflector, or light.

The only reflective surface on my bike is the carbon seat post, the carbon forks and the alloy brake rims.

Are you saying that those crappy plastic things actually do something other than uglify the bike?

I'd rather stick with my humpback and a pair of lights on the helmet than rely on these to be seen, by having them on me, I can use whichever bike I like and not worry about transfering stuff.
